About Kira Harkins

Kira Harkins, MSW, LCSW, LSCSW (Kansas & Missouri), PMH-C, SEP® , is a licensed clinical social worker, clinical supervisor, educator, and trauma therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience and more than 20 years in the social work field. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kansas and has been practicing since 2011.

She is an EMDR Certified Therapist and EMDR Approved Consultant, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP® ), and is Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). She has completed advanced training in the NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM®) for the treatment of developmental and complex trauma.

Her clinical expertise includes complex PTSD, developmental and birth trauma, perinatal mental health, women’s mental health, and life transitions, including perimenopause. Her approach integrates EMDR, Somatic Experiencing®, attachment theory, mindfulness, and nervous system–informed interventions.

Kira is a co-author and contributor to the upcoming volume EMDR for Reproductive, Perinatal, and Infant Mental Health (anticipated fall release), and co-authored a chapter Addressing Feeding Trauma through the Adaptive Information Processing lens. 

She serves as an educator, consultant, and clinical supervisor, integrating trauma theory and research from neuroscience into practical, clinically applicable interventions for mental health professionals.
