- Our Story
Founded by therapists who burned out first.
Rising Tide Therapist Retreats was built on a single belief: you cannot sustainably care for others unless you are genuinely cared for yourself. Here’s our story.
- My Mission
You pour from your cup every day. We refill it.
I’m Crystle Lampitt, LSCSW. I’m a licensed therapist, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and a trauma specialist. I’m also the person who, in her twenties, was waking up at 3 a.m. to deliver the morning news live-on air and slowly realizing the version of success I’d built didn’t fit me anymore. I was diagnosed with three autoimmune illnesses, and realized I couldn’t keep soothing my symptoms with six cups of coffee per day (with that delightful shelf-stable powder creamer from the break room), while running on minimal sleep and zero physical movement (unless, of course, it was running from one video shoot to another).
I went back to school at thirty. I’ve been a trauma therapist ever since. Along the way I gave a TEDx talk (live over Zoom, mid-pandemic, which was its own absurd character-building exercise), I trained in NARM, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (and more! Are we ever really done with trauma trainings?), and built a private practice around helping people get out of “survival mode” so they can build the lives they want. My personal trauma work immensely helped my own chronic physical symptoms and I was astounded at how well our bodies can heal when provided with the right conditions.
My orientation is somatic, relational, and trauma-informed. I think most of what we call “stuck” self-sabotage patterns are intelligent adaptations from a nervous system that learned to keep us safe. I think clinicians, of all people, deserve spaces where we can apply that same lens to ourselves. Do the “right conditions” have to be gorgeous global destinations in order to prevent burnout and improve nervous system regulation (and therefore professional learning)? Of course not! But it helps 🙂
Rising Tide Therapist Retreats is the next chapter. It exists because I went looking for the retreats I needed as a clinician and couldn’t quite find them.

These retreats are built on three convictions
- 1.
The First : "A rising tide lifts all boats."
Hence the name! We're here to build each other up—which means no drama, and a resounding "yes!" to a peaceful, inclusive, uplifting environment. Each retreat includes mini-mastermind sessions, so if you want to brainstorm about a project, tap into the community's wisdom! You don't have to be on a metaphorical island with your ideas anymore— let's be on an actual tropical island together!
- 2.
The Second : Two (or 20) minds are better than one.
Connection between therapists is its own kind of clinical training (not to mention the actual training part). Somatic co-regulation not only helps us feel safer and less alone, it physiologically helps us learn and retain information! Bye burnout, hello new clinical skills!
- 3.
The Third: We deserve to feel good.
Awe (the actual research-backed kind) is one of the most under-prescribed interventions in our field. Every retreat is designed with supporting the nervous system in mind, while understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. If your system needs to speed up, join an adventurous group excursion or plan one during the built-in free time; if you need to slow down, enjoy the natural awe of every curated venue and the all-inclusive nature of each retreat (read: no meal planning, no chores, no urgent to-dos for once).
What I
believe.
I’m Indonesian-American, born in Cairo, and I’ve lived in nine countries (most memorably as a preschool teacher in Australia and a model in Hong Kong, which is the kind of resumĂ© that makes more sense in person). I’m a bird person. I read constantly. I think a good retreat is half curriculum and half the kind of meal you remember a year later.
